“Hellen Keller was immune to flashbangs” was written during a time in my own life where I had recently left the harmful and destructive community of my religious upbringing. I experienced a crisis of faith in which I was unsure of what to believe in regarding my spirituality. I began exploring many other religions to try and utilize their wisdom to help me understand my place in the world, but all of them failed my standards except for my personal faith in Christianity. So in essence, this song is about renewing my faith in a new lens, one that seeks to serve and not seek to be served, one that looks to others as better than myself, not in arrogant self-righteousness, and one that seeks to love others as I believe I have been loved by our creator. This song is for anyone who is going through a crisis of faith. Hope can be found.

NOTE: Richard Cory has never been a Christian band nor ever will be, but I will use spiritual language and experiences in which I draw inspiration from for my lyrics as it is a strong part of who I am.
